Master of Salt & Bones is het eerste boek dat ik van Keri Lake lees. Wel heb ik eerder Dark Romance gelezen.
Schrijfstijl
Keri heeft een fijne beeldende schrijfstijl. Ik had al vrij snel in mijn hoofd hoe de omgeving in het boek eruit moet zien. Het leest vlot weg en je wordt de wereld ingezogen. Het boek wordt vanuit beide hoofdpersonages verteld en is geschreven in de eerste persoon.
Het boek zette echt meteen een duidelijke sfeer neer. Voor mijn gevoel hing er een beetje iets sinisters rond.
Dit zijn twee heel verschillende karakters. Zij is lief, zorgzaam en bezorgd. Hij is een eikel, gesloten en donker. Twee duidelijke tegenpolen die elkaar aantrekken. Ze willen hetzelfde maar vechten tegen elkaar.
Dit boek heeft een beetje een Belle en het Beest vibe. Het lijkt bijna een hertelling al is dat nergens officieel vermeld.
Lucian is beschadigd van binnen en buiten. Je leest in het heden en verleden waardoor je een boek beeld krijgt van zjjn verleden en je helemaal naar hem toe getrokken wordt. Je wil weten hoe hij zo is geworden. Waarom hij de man is, die hij nu is. Een beetje zoals Isa dat ook wil weten.

Writing Style
Keri has a nice visual writing style. I soon saw before me what the environment in the book should look like. It reads smoothly and you are drawn into the world. The book is told from both main characters and is written in the first person.
The book immediately created a clear atmosphere. The feel of the book was a bit sinister, but I really liked that.
These are two very different characters. She is sweet, caring and concerned. He is a jerk, closed off and dark. Two clear opposites that attract each other. They want the same thing but fight each other.
This book has a bit of a Beauty and the Beast vibe. It almost seems like a recount, although nowhere is that officially stated.
Lucian is damaged inside and out. You read in the present and past, which gives you a book view of his past and you are drawn all the way to him. You want to know how it turned out. Why he is the man he is now. A bit like Isa wants to know.
