A sexy standalone novel from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy. THE RISK takes you back to the world of hot hockey players, feisty heroines, bro banter, and steamy scenes...
Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.
And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.
I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.
For every fake date…he wants a real one.
Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.
That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.

The story of The Risk.
Everyone says that Brenna is a tough chick. That is not always the case, but Brenna does decides what she does. Not someone else. She doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. The only thing she really doesn’t do is heal with the enemy.
But then she meets Jake. He’s at another university and he’s fucking annoying. But she needs him for an internship. And he doesn’t make it easy for her.
What does she wants to give for that internship?
Friends who say “I love you” every time you part ways are important. Those are the ones you need in your life.
Elle Kennedy is my fucking idol and this book shows exactly why. Elle is the queen in writing light stories. Written from both Jake and Brenna’s point of view. It is such a nice writing style, I can’t really explain. You just need to read it.
A kiss, at it’s very core, is an emotional experience. Or at least it is for me. Anyone can give me an orgasm, but not everyone can touch my soul. One kiss can make me fall in love with someone.
What I think of The Risk
I thought Brenna was a bit vague in The Chase and I wasn’t sure what to expect from her. Brenna is a serious bad ass and my ultimate example. She just does what she wants and she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about it. And I mean she’s chasing her own dreams. She does not behave excessively strangely, or is exaggerated. She just has her own goals and she’s working on that. Not with trivial things like what ugly dress that girl in her class is wearing again. She doesn’t care about that. Elle has described her wonderfully and I think she is really one of the coolest female characters I know.
I had to get used to Jake. He is arrogant and I hate arrogant. In that retrospect, I could very well empathize with Brenna. But the more I read about him, the more I started to like him. You notice that the arrogance is a front and Brenna also figures that out.
This is such a wonderful Elle story and I was very happy to read it. It reads wonderfully away and I always disappear completely in the stories of Elle. Awesome.
Enjoyed it thoroughly
“Want to make out some more before we go?” Jake’s tone is boyishly hopeful. “Nope.” His gaze turns devilish. “How about a blowjob?” “Aw, I appreciate the offer, but I don’t have a penis.”
