Serie: Kitty Valentine, #2
Op/On 18 June 2020
SPIN THE WHEEL. DATE THE GUY.
Six years ago, Kitty Valentine took the book world by storm when her sweet debut romance hit number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which was followed by a string of successful releases. Her latest novel, however, totally bombs, causing her editor to suggest she write much sexier books. To Kitty, writing smut is the literary equivalent of stripping. But with no advance coming in and her royalties dipping to an all-time low, Kitty has no choice. Armed with a hot-guy spinning prize wheel, made by her best friend, listing all the different types of men she will date and then write about, Kitty will be spinning-not stripping-her way back onto the best-sellers list.

Ik heb dit boek ontvangen in ruil voor een eerlijke recensie.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review
This book sounded hilarious when I read the description, so I wanted to read it really badly. Want to know if it was as much fun as I thought it would be?
The cover of Kitty Valentine Dates a Doctor isn’t a cover I would’ve picked up in a store. I don’t usually go for chicklit like story’s and this cover screamed that vibe at me. But well, that’s my opinion.
The style of the story was fast paced and full of humor. Jillian Dodd writes this story with a lot of funny situations that everybody can get into. That’s what makes this book a really nice read and the reason why I went through it so fast.
Kitty Valentine Dates a Doctor
I find it hard to write a review about Kitty Valentine Dates A Doctor. Not because it was a bad book, but because I wasn’t in the right mood. I was reading a dark romance when my ARC came in. I loved that story, which is why I found it hard to really concentrate on the book, which was a shame. Because the story does deserve it.
It’s the exact reason I gave it 3.5 stars instead of 3. Just because I wasn’t in the mood for a happy, fast-paced, humoristic story, doesn’t mean it was a bad one. Because it absolutely wasn’t. It made me laugh out loud a few times actually and I felt for Kitty as well.
The pro’s: I think this series is different. In a good way. Kitty Valentine is about a lady who tries to get her writingcareer going again. She does it with everything she has. So much that she decides to date because she is a romance author. At the same time she tries to find her one true love. Because, oh well you never know. Kitty is a klutz which causes a lot of funny situations. Another plus for me is that it isn’t HEA, because this is a longer story about the dating for books stuff. So it’s not a spoiler. It’s what makes this series stand out and very human in my opinion.
I’ve got a few minor flaws as well. The story was very predictable. You know pretty much how it’s gonna end. If I’m being honest I saw a lot of situations coming from miles away. It’s the humor that’s keeps you interested. But as Kitty says herself: Everything’s been done already in romance.
Lovely summerread which makes you forget all your sorrow.0
