Vandaag komt het nieuwe boek van Rebecca Yarros uit in het Nederlands. De Kleur van Colorado. Dit is mijn recensie daarvan. Het origineel heet: Great and Precious Things.
Stijl
Rebecca Yarros heeft een beeldende schrijfstijl. Je wordt compleet meegesleurd in haar verhalen en de emoties lopen hoog op. Van lachen, naar huilen naar vul het zelf maar in. Ze laat je altijd rauw achter en met een enorme bookhangover.
De Nederlandse cover vind ik niet zo en zou ik zelf niet snel oppakken. De army tags vallen bijna van de cover af. Die hadden ze bijna weg kunnen laten. En het stel vind ik niet passend.
De kleur van Colorado
Dit boek… De kleur van Colorado. Dit is voor mij tot nu toe het beste boek dat ik in 2020 heb gelezen. De emoties zo rauw en de beschrijvingen… wauw.
Ik wil eigenlijk niet teveel zeggen omdat ik zo bang ben om het voor je te verpesten. Het is dan ook erg lastig om deze recensie te schrijven. Het verhaal gaf e zoveel gevoelens en ik werd verscheurd door Cam. Hij heeft echt een enorme ruimte in mijn hart genomen.
Ik vond De Laatste Brief echt heel sterk van Rebecca en ik had daar zoveel raakvlakken mee dat ik niet had gedacht dat ze dat boek kon overtreffen. En toen las ik deze en ze maakte me kapot, maar tegelijkertijd ook heel. Snap je het nog?
Ik ook niet. Dit verhaal is er een van heel veel verlies. Heel veel pijn. Maar ook eentje waarbij je echt zoveel kracht ziet. Willow is zo sterk en wauw heb ik respect voor haar. Zij is echt iemand die doorgaat ondanks alles.
En dan die twist aan het einde.. wauw… ik zag die echt zo laat pas aankomen. Echt vlak van te voren. En hij was zo goed gedaan en zo logisch eigenlijk. Je had tegelijkertijd medelijden en haat. Dit verhaal is gewoon…
Conclusie
Voor mij is de kleur van Colorado het beste boek van 2020. Als iemand dit overtreft… wauw…

Style
Rebecca Yarros has a visual writing style. You get completely swept up in her stories and the emotions run high. From laughing, to crying to fill it in yourself. She always leaves you raw and with a huge bookhangover.
I really like the original cover. The mountains, the shoes, the tags. It tells you at the same time a whole lot and yet again you know nothing. I love that.
Great and Precious Things
This book … Great and Precious Things. For me, this is the best book I’ve read in 2020 so far. The emotions so raw and the descriptions … wow.
I don’t really want to say too much because I’m so afraid of ruining it for you. It’s therefore very difficult to write this review. The story gave me so many feelings and I was torn apart by Cam. He really took in a huge space in my heart.
I really liked The Last Letter by Rebecca and I had so many things that were dear to me that I didn’t think she could surpass that book. And then I read this and she broke me, but at the same time also made me whole. Do you still get it?
Me neither. This story is one of a lot of loss. A lot of pain. But also one where you really see so much power. Willow is so strong and wow do I respect her. She really is someone who goes on and on despite everything she goes through.
And then that twist at the end … wow … I really saw it coming so late. Really just in right before it happened. And it was so well done and so logical actually. You felt pity and hatred at the same time. This story is just …
I have no words… you just need to read it.
Conclusion
Best book of 2020 for sure.
